Google has introduced a clever new feature to its Calendar. Appointment slots are a useful new feature for Google Calendars that will allow users to publish appointment times on public calendars, which other users will be able to book. Simply create appointment slots, and offer these slots to others. If you have clients, employees or patients, they can easily see your public calendar and make an appointment with you through Google Calendars.
To start using this feature, sign into your Google Calendar account and click anywhere on the calendar when it is not in month view. On top of the event bubble that will appear, click on Appointment Slots. Enter all of the details for that slot, and click on Create Slots. You can also click on Edit Details to modify settings such as location, description and repetition. You'll be able to offer a single time as a slot, or offer multiple slots for a certain length of time, such as a half hour. When you're done, click on Save, and you've created your appointment slots for others to grab.
Whether your business is fixing appliances or you're a part of a law firm, this feature will streamline the process of making appointments. There is no need to make a phone call or email when using these appointment slots. The old fashioned ways of booking appointments are a thing of the past! Appointment slots in Google Calendars is definitely one of the best new features that they have introduced and is sure to only be improved upon.
It is a great feature, but sadly the person making the appointment has to also have a Google Calendar to see your time slots. This is okay for internal use, but we can not obligate our clients to get a Google account to simply book an appointment. Tungle.com will continue to be my choice until Google fixes it so that the time slots can be used by the public without an account.
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing of Google Calendar Beta, I had to check it out myself. I found that it was just as easy-to-use as other Web 2.0 apps but with a better design. And, it's actually very fun to use.
